The following is a list of key features and new platform support in
SmartFilter 4.2:
Features
• Includes support for the new SmartFilter XL Internet Database with 91
categories — Plugin policy now includes support for the latest SmartFilter
XL Internet Database and categories. For backward compatibility
SmartReporter can be configured to use either the existing SL categories or
the new XL categories when processing log files.
• Web Reputation — Added the ability to prefilter a request based on the
Trusted Source ™ Web Reputation rating for the requested URL.
• Uncategorized URL collection — Added the ability to automatically send
uncategorized URLs back to Secure Computing’s Trusted Source ™ for
analysis.
• SafeSearch enforcement for Google and Yahoo! — Added the ability to
automatically enable strict safe search filtering for Google and Yahoo!
search requests when configured within the filtering policy regardless of
each end user’s individual safe search settings.
• Embedded URL scanning — Added the ability to include embedded URLs
found within the original request path or CGI parameters to be included in
the categories for the request when configured within the user’s filtering
policy.
• Improved handling of Internal (Private) IP addresses — Internal IP
addresses (e.g. 10.0.0.1, 172.16.0.1, 192.168.0.1) are now automatically
allowed when uncategorized IP addresses are configured to be blocked
within the filtering policy.
• LDAP group attributes — Added the ability to retrieve user group
information via LDAP directly from a configured attribute field within each
user’s record or distinguished name.
• Transparent Novell eDirectory authentication — Added the ability to pre-
load User/IP mappings directly from eDirectory to allow for user based
filtering and reporting without requiring end users to manually login to
SmartFilter.
• Category Server Enhancements — Improved networking capabilities
include increased number of concurrent connections and the ability to
automatically timeout and reuse idle connections when needed.
