11. Fill in the “Enter Billing Contact Information” with information for
the person who will be contacted for billing purposes.
12. Select whether this is your first VeriSign certificate or not. You get a
discounted price if you already have at least one.
13. Indicate how you are going to pay for your certificate.
14. Fill in your D-U-N-S number. If you don’t have one, you can apply
for one at this point. If you are going to use other documents to
proveyour organization’s legitimacy,you’ll need to faxor mailthem
to VeriSign, using the instructions provided in their “Secure Server
Enrollment Guide,” after you submit your enrollment form.
15. After you’ve read their server agreement,click on the Continuebut-
ton at the bottom of the page. Your application will be submitted.
Afteryou’vesuccessfully completedyour enrollmentform andyour infor-
mation and payment has been provided to VeriSign, they will need three
tofive working daysto authenticateyour organization’s identity andissue
your certificate. When yourapplication hasbeen approved,they will send
your certificate by email to the technical and organizational contacts you
provided.
Save the certificate VeriSign emails to you in a file named httpsd.crt
in your /etc/httpd/conf directory. Follow the steps outlined in sec-
tion 3.6 on page 58 to install your certificate.

To purchase a certificate from Thawte, follow these instructions:
1. Point your browser to

2. The first thing you need to do is gather the documents that they will
